Hedley Studios Unveils 80% Scale Electric Porsche 550 J, Limited to 250 Units
After three years of development, Hedley Studios, formerly The Little Car Company, has announced its first collaboration with Porsche: the 550 J, an 80% scale electric reinterpretation of the Porsche 550. The car is powered by an 8kW (11bhp) 48V motor, reaches 40mph, and offers a 30-mile range. An optional RS pack doubles power, raises top speed to 50mph, extends range to 50 miles, and adds drilled brakes and adjustable dampers. The 550 was chosen over the 911 and 356, with founder and CEO Ben Hedley calling its shape 'a work of art.' Porsche provided access to an original 550—one of only 90 ever made—and archive materials, but the goal was not an exact replica. The 550 J features custom switchgear for drive modes like those in a Porsche Taycan, a carbon fibre body, trailing arm suspension with Bilstein coilover dampers, Eibach springs, and Brembo brakes. Batteries are packaged behind the seats for a mid-engined feel. Hedley describes the car as a 'Giant Slayer' reinterpretation and admits spinning it twice on track. Limited to 250 examples, pricing starts from £69,500, with deliveries expected in Spring 2027.
