He Spoke to the Birds: Arte Povera-Adjacent Trio at AAIE Rome

Fanfan Yuxuan Fan, the curator from Fanflus, has put together an exhibition called "He Spoke to the Birds" at the AAIE Center for Contemporary Art in Rome, which will be open until July 28, 2026. This showcase features works from three artists: Jeremias Rumpl (born 1992, Leoben, Austria), Diego Azzola (born 2000, Bergamo, Italy), and Huang Zhe (born 1994, China). The exhibit's title draws from Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev's portrayal of Saint Francis of Assisi and reflects the inventive spirit of Arte Povera. Azzola’s installations blend realistic Italian architecture with metal accents, while Huang's dark oil paintings obscure figures in deep absinthe-green. Rumpl's pieces, made with acid etching and welding, display a rusted, weathered look. Fan’s curation emphasizes minimalism and spatial dynamics, encouraging viewer interpretation.
