HCCH Studio Unveils Osmanthus Moon Pavilion for Mid-Autumn Festival at Power Station of Art Shanghai

architecture-design · 2026-09-27

HCCH Studio has completed Osmanthus Moon, a temporary public art installation commissioned by the Power Station of Art Shanghai to celebrate China's traditional Mid-Autumn Festival. The project, which spans 41 square meters, was realized in 2025 under the curation of HAN Shuang. The design team comprised Hao Chen, Chenchen Hu, and Feng Qi, with photography by Guowei Liu. Classified as a pavilion, the installation projects the osmanthus—a plant and flavor emblematic of autumn—both spatially and metaphorically. It engages in a dialogue with action paintings by a popular artist associated with Zao Hua (greenhouse flower), a tradition recognized as intangible cultural heritage. The work was submitted by the architecture team and is documented on ArchDaily. The project merges contemporary architectural practice with cultural heritage, offering a temporary public art experience tied to a major Chinese festival.
