Haegue Yang's 'Through' Opens at Dia Beacon as Her Largest U.S. Commission

exhibition · 2026-10-15

The exhibition 'Through' by South Korean artist Haegue Yang debuted at Dia Beacon on October 10, 2026, and will remain open until June 12, 2028. It includes four interrelated pieces: 'Tidal Field', 'Fallen Field', 'Sonic Field', and 'Axial Flow', all created in 2026, which engage with the architecture of the venue and draw inspiration from East Asian philosophy, Korean mythology, and the music of composer Isang Yun. Notably, 'Fallen Field' features Dia's largest imoogi installation. The exhibition, which reinterprets Yun's 1968 quartet 'Images' through the lens of the Five Phases theory, was inaugurated with a chamber performance by Sejong Soloists, following comments from musicologist Mina Lee. Curated by Jordan Carter and Min Sun Jeon, it is situated at 3 Beekman Street, Beacon, New York.
