H3O Renovates Historic Barcelona Home with Playful, Cinematic Touches
H3O architects, based in Barcelona, has undertaken the renovation of Casa Plató, a 19th-century residence located in Gracia, skillfully merging the preservation of its historical essence with modern, playful updates. Initially a rural structure, the house evolved into an impressive home and a site for filming. The renovation included an expanded kitchen, the addition of a bathroom, and new openings to improve natural light. Restorative work on mosaic floors, radiators, and mouldings was completed, while the kitchen showcases dark tiles and a white geometric hood. A newly created terrace with deep-blue tiles links the indoor and outdoor areas. The original bathroom remains intact, while the new one boasts a circular shower and marble countertops. H3O, founded in 2017 by Adrià Orriols, Joan Gener, and Miquel Ruiz, also preserved distinctive heritage spaces and the garden. Photography was provided by Simone Marcolin.
