Guillermo Lorca's Monumental Oil Paintings Merge Beauty, Myth, and Danger

Guillermo Lorca García Huidobro, a Chilean artist born in Santiago in 1984, is renowned for his expansive oil paintings that merge traditional techniques with surreal, symbolic, and often disquieting themes. After training with Sergio Montero and serving as an apprentice to Odd Nerdrum in Norway, Lorca has established a notable presence in international exhibitions. His figurative art features a unique visual language where elements such as children, animals, beauty, violence, myth, and darkness are interwoven in dramatic arrangements. Significant exhibitions include 'Eternal Life' at Chile's National Museum of Fine Arts, 'Nocturnal Animals' at GAM, and 'The Splendor of the Night' at Barcelona's MOCO Museum, along with solo displays at Sofia's National Gallery and the MEAM Museum in Barcelona in 2026. He is considered one of the leading painters of his generation in contemporary Latin American art.
