Guido Guidi's 'A Luzzara' Project Revisits Paul Strand and Cesare Zavattini's Landmark 1955 Photobook
Guido Guidi, a native of Cesena born in 1941, has finalized a photographic endeavor titled 'A Luzzara,' drawing inspiration from the 1955 book 'Un paese' by Paul Strand and Cesare Zavattini. Strand's visit to Luzzara, Reggio Emilia, resulted in a pivotal piece of Italian photography. Guidi, recognized as a winner of Strategia Fotografia 2025, captured images in Luzzara from November 2025 to June 2026, concentrating on doors, windows, and transitional areas, embodying Zavattini's idea of 'qualsiasità.' Twenty photographs will be added to the Archivio fotografico 'Un paese' in Luzzara. The project will be unveiled to the public on 26 September 2026, followed by an exhibition in 2027 at the Nuovo Polo Museale di Luzzara and a monograph published by Mack Books.
