Gubi Reissues Carlo Nason's 'Lotus' Lamp, Originally 'LT305'

architecture-design · 2026-09-23

Danish design company Gubi has brought back Carlo Nason's 'LT305' lamp, now called the 'Lotus' lamp, a nickname used by collectors. The reissue, developed with Nason and his son Alberto Nason, follows the Venetian designer's death in May 2026. Originally created in 1969, the lamp was produced for only a few years. It features four mouth-blown glass shades, a compact steel structure, and pulegoso glass with tiny bubbles, making each piece unique. Gubi CEO Marie Kristine Schmidt praised Nason's independent approach, noting his knowledge of Murano glassmaking and influences from Milan, Northern European modernism, and photography. The 'Lotus' joins Gubi's portfolio of reissues, including designs by Gabriella Crespi and Pierre Paulin, alongside contemporary commissions from Gam Fratesi and Space Copenhagen. Schmidt emphasized that historical importance alone is insufficient; designs must be relevant today. The launch celebrates Nason's work and introduces it to new audiences.
