Guangdong Tech Firms Showcase Innovations Ahead of Apec Summit in Shenzhen

As Shenzhen prepares to host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit in November, the southern Chinese province of Guangdong is spotlighting its technological advancements to capture global attention. The South China Morning Post participated in a media visit to BYD, the world's leading electric vehicle maker by deliveries, located in eastern Shenzhen. During the visit, BYD demonstrated its latest new energy and automotive technologies, including charging a Denza Z9GT premium sedan to a driving range of 700 kilometers (435 miles) in approximately six minutes under extreme cold conditions of minus 30 degrees Celsius (minus 22 degrees Fahrenheit). Additionally, the Yangwang U9 super-coupe showcased its quad-motor all-wheel-drive system by performing a 360-degree rotation on the spot. This event is part of a series of media visits organized by Guangdong province to highlight its tech industry, which includes companies like DJI, known for its drones. The Apec summit in Shenzhen marks the third time a Chinese city has hosted the meeting, underscoring the country's growing role in regional economic cooperation. The province aims to leverage this international platform to promote its technological ecosystem and attract global partnerships.
