GRT Architects Completes First Major Renovation of Storefront for Art and Architecture in Decades
GRT Architects has finalized a significant renovation of the Storefront for Art and Architecture located at 97 Kenmare Street, NYC, marking the gallery's first substantial update in many years. The renovation encompassed the installation of new electrical and HVAC systems, a door handle designed by GRT, and back-lighting for the concrete letters created by Vito Acconci. Inside, a custom aluminum display system and new track lighting, inspired by Acconci and Steven Holl, were added. The bathroom showcases unique tiles designed by Jorge Pardo. Tal Schori, the founder of GRT, was tasked with this project by executive director José Esparza Chong Cuy. Storefront, established in 1982 by Kyong Park, will unveil its next exhibition on September 25 and celebrate its annual gala on September 28, honoring SO–IL, Deana Haggag, and Mel Chin.
