Group Show 'Amongst Other Things' Celebrates Observational Painting of New York
From June 5 to June 6, 2026, A Space Gallery in Brooklyn presented 'Amongst Other Things,' a collective exhibition showcasing twenty artists who capture the essence of New York through direct observation. Curated by Insiya Pardiwala, the founder of Plein-Air Painters of NYC, in partnership with A Space, the exhibit highlighted the importance of prolonged, attentive viewing, reminiscent of the techniques used by Lois Dodd, Rackstraw Downes, and David Hockney. Featured artists included Lola Alimova, Brigitte Bentele, and others, with works ranging from Alimova's expansive oil pastels to Shuvaeva's raku-inspired paintings.
