Grönemeyer and Choirs Unite in Magdeburg Cathedral Ahead of Saxony-Anhalt Election

Ahead of the Saxony-Anhalt state election, a special concert in Magdeburg Cathedral brings together 400 singers, Herbert Grönemeyer, and other artists in a symbolic act for civil society engagement. The event, titled 'Heimat bewegen', is organized by 'Project Together' and features choirs from across Saxony-Anhalt who have been rehearsing for months. Grönemeyer visited Ballenstedt in the Harz in May 2026, Sebastian Krumbiegel of Die Prinzen went to Halberstadt, and members of Santiano also rehearsed with local choirs. The concert aims to highlight the power of collective singing in fostering community and civic participation. The event takes place on Thursday evening in Magdeburg Cathedral, just before the state election.
