Greentown ThinkWorks: Vertical Manufacturing Campus in Hangzhou

In Hangzhou's Zijingang Science and Technology City, LYCS Architecture and GLA have designed Greentown ThinkWorks, a 75,859-square-meter industrial and office complex slated for completion in 2026. The project, photographed by DONG Image, aims to redefine high-density industrial architecture by moving beyond the traditional monolithic 'machine' model. Instead, it creates a logically coherent, breathable, and human-centered operational platform, integrating cutting-edge technology with natural ecology. The design team includes RUAN Hao, ZHAN Yuan, ZHAO Lin, ZHANG Yunyi, DUAN Qin, YUAN Ran, and ZHANG Jingyi from LYCS, with GLA's team led by SONG Ping, WANG Yuan, JIN Zhangjiang, and SHEN Xiaofeng (architecture), WANG Hongtao (structure), and FAN Chenhui, CHEN Lihong, and LI Chunjiao (MEP). The project responds to the trend of vertical manufacturing as cities become denser and industrial upgrading accelerates. The design is presented as a new paradigm for high-density industrial architecture, emphasizing symbiosis between advanced technology and natural elements.
