Green House by M2 Senos Arquitectos: A Modern Take on Costa Nova's Palheiros
Portuguese firm M2 Senos Arquitectos has completed the Green House (Casa Verde), a 3,799 square-foot residence in Gafanha da Encarnação, Portugal, in 2025. The project, led by architects Ricardo Senos and Sofia Senos, is situated in Costa Nova do Prado, a beach town renowned for its traditional 'palheiros'—striped wooden houses originally used for fishing storage. The design reinterprets this vernacular architecture with a contemporary approach. The house was built by Licínio Martins Lourenço, Lda, with engineering by Eng.º Pedro Festas. Materials and products from Geberit, CIN, Carpintaria Venezolana Portuguesa, Lda., ENAT, Fixocaleira, Lda, and Samagaio & Capão were used. Photographs were taken by Ivo Tavares Studio. The project was curated by Susanna Moreira and was featured on ArchDaily, with an original version in Portuguese. The completion year is 2025, and the house falls under the category of residential architecture.
