Graziella da Gioz Exhibition in Revine Lago Explores Landscape and Poetry

Marco Goldin curated the exhibition 'Come acqua e luce. Dialogo tra pittura, incisione e poesia' featuring works by Graziella da Gioz at the Galleria della Valle in Revine Lago, Italy. The show, under the patronage of the Comune, runs until August 30, 2026. Goldin, a prominent art critic, has long championed da Gioz, whom he identified as one of the most poetic voices in contemporary Venetian art since her 1992 exhibition at Palazzo Sarcinelli. The exhibition includes 25 works: oil paintings, 7 engravings, and 10 pastels, some dedicated to the nearby Lake Revine. Da Gioz's art is deeply inspired by the poetry of Luciano Cecchinel, whose verses about the lake and personal tragedy—the death of his daughter—are echoed in the artist's four engravings for his collection 'In silenzioso affiorare'. These engravings are also featured in an artist's book curated by the Associazione Nazionale Incisori Contemporanei. Goldin described da Gioz's landscapes as not mere depictions but as imbued with the lives of those who inhabited them, transforming linear time into circular, sacred time. The artist's work prioritizes emotional content over mimetic accuracy, as seen in the pastel 'Di sera lungo il lago' with its pink and violet hues. Da Gioz extracts fragments from perceived reality to create metaphors for the whole, capturing fragile landscapes under ominous clouds.
