Grazer Kunstverein to Host First Institutional Show of Conceptual Artist Martin Maloney

exhibition · 2026-09-02

From September 18 to December 13, 2026, the Grazer Kunstverein will present the first major exhibition dedicated to Martin Maloney, a conceptual artist who lived from 1938 to 2003. Maloney was an influential figure in New York City during the 1960s, a pivotal time for Conceptual art. He participated in the notable 1966 exhibition "The 25 Show: Painting and Sculpture," organized by Seth Siegelaub, and took part in significant shows at Gallery Konrad Fischer. Sharing a studio with Lawrence Weiner on Bleecker Street, he was well-connected, receiving holiday greetings from Sol LeWitt and notable mentions from Dan Graham. Despite his achievements, his work isn’t widely recognized, and this exhibition aims to shed light on his contributions.
