Graphic Designer Creates Brand Identity for Norwegian Tattoo Studio
In October 2019, graphic designer and art director Matheus Gomes, based in São Paulo, Brazil, was featured for his work on the brand identity project for Bente Tattoo Studio. The studio was established in July 2018 by tattoo artist Bente Berg and is located in Bergenhus, Bergen, Norway. Gomes developed a visual identity system that incorporates a clean graphic design approach with a distinctive introductory serif typeface, which is unusual for a tattoo studio. The design integrates photography to establish a cohesive tone, resulting in a classic visual communication style. For stationery materials, torn cardboard was used to symbolize imperfection, with its texture serving as an abstract depiction of Norway's hills and natural landscape. The typeface, created by Dreams Office, was selected for its precise lines, classic aesthetics, and subtly imperfect curves, contributing to the overall identity. The project aims to convey the studio's essence, purpose, and identity through these visual elements. Photographs for the project were taken by Jake Davies, Alexa Mazzarello, and Ezgi Polat.
