Grace Baldwin's Monumental Junk Drawer Sculpture

Artist Grace Baldwin is creating a monumental, lifelike sculpture of a junk drawer, filled with oversized everyday objects that evoke nostalgia. The project began with Baldwin's own junk drawer as inspiration, and evolved into a virtual collaboration as social media followers shared items from their own drawers. The sculpture includes a smudged Pink Pearl eraser, a Blockbuster Video membership card, a half-used roll of Tums, a giant pair of corded earbuds, a Taco Bell sauce packet, a dollar bill, a Duracell battery, and giant pennies, among other items. Baldwin, who typically works with woodworking, has used this project to experiment with other materials and expand her creative abilities. She plans to continue adding items until the drawer feels complete, and hopes to find a venue to display the finished work, possibly allowing viewers to rummage through the loose items.
