Goya Tapestries from Spain's Royal Collections Debut at Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires
At the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires, two tapestries by Francisco de Goya, titled La cometa and La gallina ciega, are displayed until January 17. The exhibition, named "Goya en Buenos Aires. Tapices de las Colecciones Reales de España," marks the first time the Galería de las Colecciones Reales has lent works to the Americas. This effort, facilitated by the Fundación Callia and the Consejo Internacional de Mecenas de las Colecciones Reales, echoes a similar event from 1928 when ten Goya tapestries were sent to the city. The showcase emphasizes Goya's tapestry designs and the associated weaving techniques. The opening was graced by distinguished guests, and the museum's collection includes over 12,000 artworks, featuring pieces by Goya.
