Gotlib Retrospective at Galerie Huberty & Breyne, Paris, First Since His Death in 2016
From September 4 to October 10, 2026, Galerie Huberty & Breyne in Paris will present the first retrospective dedicated to cartoonist Marcel Gotlib since his passing in 2016. Located at 36 Avenue Matignon, 75008 Paris, the exhibition highlights Gotlib's career from 1934 to 2016, starting with his contributions to Pilote in the 1960s, where Gai-Luron first appeared. He was a co-founder of L'Écho des savanes and developed Fluide glacial, which he used until 1988 for his humor and characters, including Superdupont. Featured are original pages from Les Dingodossiers and Rubrique-à-brac. Critic Arnaud Le Gouëfflec describes Gotlib's humor as 'therapeutic,' and the value of his original pages has surged, reaching up to €91,000 at auction.
