gon architects Transforms 78 m² Vicálvaro Apartment into Casa POP for Santiago and Ángel

In 2026, Gonzalo Pardo from gon architects completed the renovation of Casa POP, a 78 m² apartment located in Vicálvaro, Madrid. This initiative challenges conventional notions of a typical user, emphasizing that architecture should reflect diverse lifestyles. The previous structure, constructed in the 2000s, adhered to strict nuclear-family norms, resulting in a fragmented layout dominated by hallways. For Santiago and Ángel, the owners who prioritize enjoyment, culture, and knowledge, this arrangement felt outdated. The design team comprised Carol Linares, Maria Konstantinidou, Sara Mordt, María Cecilia Cordero, and Alexandra Marouda, with general construction managed by Serviteco Obras s.l. Notable brands involved included &Tradition, Alessi, Kartell, Muuto, and ZETA gon architects x SC Herrajes. Photography credits go to imagensubliminal (Rocío R. Rivas and Miguel de Guzmán), while Valentina Díaz curated the exhibition. The original text is available in Spanish.
