Gola Hundun's 'Habitat' Transforms Pennabilli Natural History Museum into Ecosystem Exhibition

The MUSSS – Museo Naturalistico del Sasso Simone e Simoncello in Pennabilli, Italy, will host 'Habitat: altri sguardi sull’Antropocene' from July 12 to August 21, 2026, featuring artist Gola Hundun (Nicolò Reali, born 1982 in Cesena). Curated by Gian Guido Grassi, the exhibition is part of FUORI MOSTRA, the cultural program accompanying the 55th Pennabilli Antiquariato national antiques fair. The show transforms the museum into an 'exhibition ecosystem' where artworks, naturalistic specimens, and scientific collections coexist. Works include photography, mixed media, and a site-specific installation that dialogue with the museum's permanent collection, exploring themes of ecology, biodiversity, and the Anthropocene. The opening on July 12 at 6 PM will be followed at 9 PM by the presentation of 'Spagiria', a book-object by Gola Hundun published by Cichinobrigante, at the Orto dei Frutti Dimenticati. 'Spagiria' is an autonomous editorial work that recombines images uniquely in each copy, referencing alchemical processes. The project emerges from a collaboration between Pennabilli Antiquariato, Chiocciola la casa del nomade, MUSSS, and Associazione START. Grassi describes the exhibition as born from observing abandoned buildings reclaimed by nature, where the artistic intervention reveals ongoing processes of recolonization. The 55th Pennabilli Antiquariato runs from July 4 to 19, 2026, turning the town into a diffuse exhibition route.
