Gohar World: Laila and Nadia Gohar's Tableware Universe Blends Craft and Surrealism
Established in 2020 by sisters Laila and Nadia Gohar, Gohar World offers a range of tableware, textiles, jewelry, and accessories, elevating ordinary actions into dramatic ceremonies. Laila, an artist hailing from Cairo, emphasizes the visual aspect of food, while Nadia has a background in painting. Rather than merely creating a brand, the sisters aimed to cultivate a world that celebrates tradition, time, and craftsmanship. Gohar World revives traditional techniques such as lace and embroidery, with items like Battenburg lace doilies serving multiple functions. The Egg Chandelier, crafted in Cairo, represents home and continuity. Production takes place in family ateliers across Egypt, Italy, Vietnam, and Austria, with collaborations featuring Gucci, Hermès, and Prada, showcasing a narrative where objects inhabit both physical and visual realms.
