Gloria Steinem, Feminist Icon and Journalist, Dies at 92

Gloria Steinem, a pioneering feminist and journalist from the United States, has died at the age of 92. Her foundation shared the news on Instagram, revealing she passed away peacefully at her residence in New York City. Born in 1934 in Toledo, Ohio, Steinem earned her degree from Smith College in 1956 and later spent two years in India on a research grant. In the 1960s, she freelanced as a journalist and famously went undercover as a Playboy Bunny in 1963. She established Ms. magazine in 1971 and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2013. Her memoir "My Life on the Road" was released in 2015, and a second memoir, "An Unexpected Life," is due out this month.
