Giuseppe Ducrot: Ceramics for the Vatican and Luxury Hotels
Rome-based artist Giuseppe Ducrot, 60, creates both religious sculpture for the Vatican and whimsical ceramic fireplaces, fountains, and consoles for private homes and resorts. Trained in classical techniques, he pivoted to ceramics for speed and cost, hand-building slab pieces that retain the energy of his sketches. His works are available through Twenty First Gallery and have been commissioned by Le Sirenuse in Positano, Le Sirenuse Mare on the Amalfi Coast, and Vermelho, Christian Louboutin's hotel in Melides, Portugal. Interior designers Georgis & Mirgorodsky, Jessica Schuster, and Tony Ingrao have also sought his pieces. Ducrot produces smaller works in his Rome studio and larger fountains in Faenza, Italy's historic ceramics capital. He sees all his creations—sacred or secular—as part of the same artistic language.
