Giuseppe Di Liberto's Immersive Installation at Ca' Pesaro Explores Apocalyptic Waiting

From June 23 to September 6, 2026, the Project Room of Ca' Pesaro – Galleria Internazionale d'Arte Moderna in Venice hosts "Per sempre, fino alla fine," a site-specific installation by Giuseppe Di Liberto (born 1996, Palermo). Curated by Marta Cereda and Giulia Mariachiara Galiano, the project is part of the Polifonie italiane series, dedicated to artists trained at the Università Iuav di Venezia. The installation centers on a suspended rectangular concrete plane that is periodically misted with water, temporarily revealing an image that quickly fades. This cycle of appearance and disappearance evokes a sense of perpetual waiting, with Venice itself serving as a paradigm of fragility and suspended risk. An olfactory component by "nose" Alessandra Avanzi, featuring notes of charcoal and burnt wood, enhances the immersive experience. The emerging image is derived from Venetian typographic culture of the 1400s, sourced from city archives and libraries. A catalog designed by Walter Santomauro functions as an additional installation element. Di Liberto, who in 2025 won the PAC – Piano per l'Arte Contemporanea with his work "A volte è strana la vita (marcia funebre neomelodica)" (acquired by Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa), previously had a solo show at Galleria Poggiali.
