Giulia Maglionico's 'Eldorada Chips' at Venice Biennale 2026

From June 27 to July 5, 2026, the Gervasuti Foundation at Supernova in Venice hosts 'Eldorada Chips', a project by Giulia Maglionico presented as part of the Special Events – Diary #04 of the National Pavilion of the United Republic of Tanzania at the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. The opening is on June 26 at 6:30 PM. Curated by Francesca Baboni and supported by Artesicura, a company specializing in the protection and enhancement of private artistic heritage, the exhibition features Maglionico's series '#unmaredasalvare', which critiques consumerism and environmental degradation through vibrant, ironic imagery. The works blend graphic design, illustration, and painting, depicting chip bags and fluorescent jellyfish that merge into floating waste, turning the seafloor into a supermarket shelf. Maglionico, born in Florence in 1977, started in advertising graphics and literature before turning to painting. Key influences include gallerist Rosanna Chiessi and curator Francesca Baboni, leading to collaborations with Galleria Il Castello di Milano and international fairs. She is also a testimonial for a social campaign by CONI and FPI against violence on women. Artesicura's director Antonio Cecora stated that art can make visible issues often in the background, stimulating reflection.
