Giorgio Galotti on His Career Turning Point: From Turin to Hypermaremma

Giorgio Galotti, curator, gallerist, and founder of Hypermaremma, identifies his 2013 move to Turin as the pivotal moment in his career. He describes a night drive through fog as a metaphor for that period. Turin, despite its post-Arte Povera challenges and Artissima's success, allowed him to take risks and develop a more synthetic, rigorous approach, shifting from passion to professionalism. This foundation led to a nomadic program in late 2020, freeing him from physical space and commercial roles to focus on curatorial work with galleries, private sponsors, and institutions. He co-founded the independent fair DAMA with major city institutions, building lasting relationships with professionals and artists. Finally, Hypermaremma emerged from the need to export his learnings, enabling large-scale productions with admired artists. Now based in Milan, Galotti credits his Turin period for his current success.
