Gillo Pontecorvo Archive Opens at Museo Nazionale del Cinema in Turin
The Museo Nazionale del Cinema in Turin is showcasing "Gillo Pontecorvo. Una battaglia dopo l'altra," an exhibition made possible by a donation from the Pontecorvo family, which will be open until 5 April 2027. Curated by Mauro Genovese, the collection features photographs, posters, documents, and film clips, commemorating twenty years since Pontecorvo's passing and sixty years since "La battaglia di Algeri" received the Golden Lion. Pontecorvo, who was born in Pisa in 1919 and passed away in Rome in 2006, was a filmmaker and Resistance fighter recognized for works like "Kapò" (1960) and "Giovanna" (1956). The exhibition also highlights his connection with Enrico Berlinguer and several unproduced projects, including one involving Marlon Brando. A retrospective is set for Cinema Massimo from 15 to 23 September 2026.
