Giant Lego World Cup Trophy Rises at Rockefeller Plaza

A 8.47-meter-tall replica of the FIFA World Cup trophy, built from over 1.3 million Lego bricks, now towers over Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. The installation, weighing approximately 4.2 tonnes, was created by a team of 59 designers, engineers, and technicians at Lego Group's facility in Kladno, Czech Republic, over eight months and more than 7,000 hours. It features an internal steel skeleton weighing around 3.5 tonnes for structural support. The model was dismantled into 16 sections for transport across the Atlantic and reassembled on site. The final brick was placed on July 6, 2026, by Brazilian football legend Cafu, marking the opening of a new 'Lego Fan Zone' where visitors can engage in building challenges and other activities. This is one of the largest Lego models ever constructed, following previous mega-builds like life-sized Formula 1 cars for the Miami Grand Prix.
