Giacomo Giovannetti's Provincial Art Practice Emphasizes Dialogue and Local Connection

Giacomo Giovannetti, an artist born in 1983 in Senigallia and currently residing in Roncitelli, emphasizes the importance of dialogue and exchange in his work. He is not only an illustrator and educator but also the founder of the sustainable streetwear label Upupa&Colibri. For Giovannetti, art serves as a means of acquiring knowledge, often embracing a sense of systematic disorientation. He prefers the simplicity of village life to the cultural hunger he associates with Senigallia. His notable projects include "Mostrofico," which captures moments with his daughters and students, and a 2014 site-specific collaboration with Sineglossa, curated by Federico Bomba, in the Marche region. Inspired by Mario Giacomelli, he aspires to revitalize Giacomelli's former Tipografia Marchigiana and teaches in primary schools and shelters, viewing education as a collaborative art form.
