Ghana Cuckooshrike Filmed for First Time in Taï National Park After 13 Years Unseen
The Ghana Cuckooshrike has been filmed for the first time in Taï National Park, Ivory Coast, after being unseen for 13 years. Researchers Stephanie Bartlett and Paulo Ditzel from the International Bird Conservation Partnership made this significant discovery during a six-month expedition in West Africa. Previously, the bird was last photographed in Kakum National Park in 2010 and Atewa Forest Reserve in 2013, earning it a classification as "lost" to science. Bartlett captured the first known video and highest-quality photographs of the bird, which typically perches high above ground. John Mittermeier from the American Bird Conservancy praised the images as the best ever taken of the species.
