Germany to Establish Cyberdome and Expand Drone Defenses Against Russian Sabotage

Germany is preparing a comprehensive package of measures to bolster its defenses against drone attacks, cyber intrusions, and other forms of Russian sabotage, following a failed drone attack on an airport last month. Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt revealed the plans in an interview with Bild am Sonntag, stating that Russia's hybrid attacks have become part of daily reality and are expected to increase, but Germany can defend and protect itself. The proposed measures include the establishment of a national 'cyberdome'—a network of digital sensors designed to detect and intercept hacking attempts. Additionally, police mobile drone defense capabilities would be expanded, with rapidly deployable counter-drone units stationed in cities to protect airspace above critical transport hubs and government districts. Russia has denied involvement in the airport attack, with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov calling the accusations 'the start of a real war,' as reported by state news agency TASS. The interior ministry spokesperson confirmed the plans on Sunday, emphasizing the need for enhanced security measures in response to evolving threats.
