George Rouy's REPRISE at Hauser & Wirth New York Explores Repetition and Deformation

exhibition · 2026-08-09

Hauser & Wirth will showcase George Rouy's REPRISE in New York from September 10 to October 17, 2026. This exhibition marks the second presentation of a project initially unveiled in London. In this new collection, the British artist delves into the idea of reprise, illustrating how revisited images evolve. Among the highlighted works are Border World (2026), measuring 250.4 × 240.3 cm, and Procession III (2026), a 220 × 340.3 cm piece that draws on themes from Pietà and Deposition. Rouy's Unknown series features small anti-portraits of imaginary personas. Additionally, Reprise, Reprise (2026), a 55.1 × 90.3 cm canvas, reflects on the fluidity of image interpretation and the interplay of memory, perception, and change.
