GenCork Unveils Algorithmically Designed Cork Wall Cladding for Dezeen Showroom
GenCork, a company based in Portugal, has launched an innovative cork wall covering that merges eco-friendly materials with customizable designs created through algorithms. This product employs the Corkvectors algorithm, showcasing organic patterns inspired by nature alongside geometric shapes, resulting in a captivating 3D texture. Cork is sustainably sourced from trees, allowing forests to thrive. Their partner, Sofalca, boosts sustainability by creating expanded black cork using a zero-waste process that bonds the material with its natural resin through steam from biomass waste. This gives the panels a richer brown color compared to untreated cork, while CNC milling ensures accuracy. The boards measure 1000 x 500 x 100 millimeters, with Brimet Silva as the creative director, and are highlighted in Dezeen Showroom.
