Galerie Pavec Stages First Solo Show of Maurice Denis in Paris

Galerie Pavec in Paris is presenting its first monographic exhibition dedicated to Maurice Denis, running from September 11 to November 14, 2026. Titled after the artist's own words, 'La première période de ma peinture, c'est l'amour…', the show focuses on Denis's early work from 1892 to 1915, centered on his family universe: his wife Marthe Meurier, their children, gardens, interiors, and everyday landscapes. The exhibition is the result of months of research in close collaboration with Denis's family and specialists. It marks a new chapter for the gallery, which aims to apply the same scholarly rigor to major art historical figures that it has previously devoted to modern women artists. The show presents Denis as a deeply modern painter, for whom the domestic sphere served as both laboratory and subject, transforming lived experience into a pictorial language where color, rhythm, and surface organization take precedence over mere description.
