Gabriele Silli's 'Immenso spermatozoo sottomarino' at Fondazione D'Arc

Fondazione D'Arc in Rome presents 'Immenso spermatozoo sottomarino', a solo exhibition by artist Gabriele Silli (born 1982, Rome). Curated by Giuliana Benassi, the show features a new body of work including two monumental site-specific installations. The title provocatively references the origin of life, reflecting Silli's visceral connection to the sea, where he grew up in Anzio. The exhibition includes 'Rivolo secco (Le miserie)', a 35-meter-long environmental installation made from organic materials like skins, branches, and debris treated with bitumen and painted black, evoking a post-apocalyptic landscape. Another work, 'Lingua disumana dell'attore Charlie, cammello', is a bronze sculpture based on a cast of a camel's tongue, mounted as a trophy. 'Il guardiano (che è sempre un becchino)' personifies petty control through language. In Sala M, the 'psycho-installation' 'Io sono il plumbeo amo, l'intartarato, la corrente sottomarina' serves as a metaphor for the subconscious, activated by a performance involving the artist's family. The exhibition runs until September 27.
