Gabriele Landi's Monumental Paper Map at Srisa Gallery, Florence
The Srisa Gallery in Florence is currently hosting Gabriele Landi's solo exhibition titled "Doveva essere qui?" ("Should it have been here?"), which runs until October 28, 2026. Curated by Federico Giannini, the show features a significant piece called Mappa, a 10-meter-long and 1.40-meter-high roll of watercolor paper, adorned on both sides with vibrant fluorescent pink and orange hues. The entire piece spans 250 x 560 cm. Landi meticulously cut the paper freehand using a grid, resulting in paper shreds that resemble islands and peninsulas. Displayed within plexiglass cases, the artist draws inspiration from childhood maps of Padola, located near the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, and likens his work to Maria Lai's Geografie.
