Gabriela de Matos and Pedro Rossi to Curate 2027 São Paulo Architecture Biennial
The upcoming 15th São Paulo International Architecture Biennial (BIAsp) will occur from September to October 2027, under the direction of curators Gabriela de Matos and Pedro Rossi. This year’s theme, "Architecture, Culture, and Sovereignty," builds upon the previous discussion on "Extremes: Architectures for a Hot World." Since its inception in 1973, the biennial, organized by the Institute of Architects of Brazil—São Paulo Chapter, has been a platform for addressing critical issues such as urban inequality and climate change. Additionally, the UIA Gold Medal will be awarded to Eduardo Souto de Moura in 2026 for his contributions to architecture.
