Futurewave’s Kando wearable system rethinks communication in elder care

Futurewave, a creative product studio located in Brussels, has introduced Kando, an innovative connected care system designed for elder care facilities. This system features three main hardware elements: the Kando Button, a wearable device that provides LED feedback and vibrational alerts for emergency calls at the touch of a button; the Kando Box, a wall-mounted unit that serves as an interactive visual interface linked to residents' televisions; and central hubs that facilitate communication throughout the facility. Futurewave was responsible for the product's architecture, industrial design, electronics integration, embedded software, and prototyping. Kando aims to enhance care management, minimize response times, eliminate reliance on paper documentation, and reduce long-term operational expenses in nursing homes.
