Fundación Juan March Explores Six Decades of Spanish Art in 'La transición estética'

exhibition · 2026-10-16

From October 16, 2026, to January 10, 2027, the Fundación Juan March in Madrid will host 'La transición estética. España, 1960-2020', an exhibition curated by José María Parreño and Germán Labrador. This showcase examines Spanish art spanning from the 1960s to 2020 and includes nearly 200 Spanish artists alongside 70 international figures, such as Picasso, Duchamp, Kandinsky, and Warhol. The exhibition is organized by decades and significant cultural shifts, emphasizing the audience's involvement through pieces by Erwitt and Equipo Crónica. A kiosk will provide a publication detailing sixty years of specialized journalism. Additionally, the exhibition posits that art both mirrors and influences societal change, with a focus on the emergence of collective authorship. Online documentation will also be available, and the film 'Autorizada para todos los públicos' will debut on November 30.
