Fujifilm Eterna 55 to Get Auto Electronic ND in Firmware Update
Fujifilm has released a firmware roadmap for its GFX Eterna 55 cinema camera, promising automatic electronic variable ND filter adjustment in a future update. The IMAX-certified camera, launched in September 2025, is Fujifilm's first dedicated filmmaking tool. Version 1.10, available now, improves stability and usability. Version 1.20, due by end of 2026, adds MXF playback, backup/restore via app, and anamorphic desqueeze options including Open Gate 4K 4:3. Version 1.30, slated for January 2027 or later, introduces automatic ND density adjustment while maintaining constant iris, shutter angle, and ISO—a feature currently available on some Sony cameras. It also adds LANC support and remote control of Duvo Series lenses via the multi-function dial. The updates are available on Fujifilm's Eterna 55 firmware web page.
