exhibition · 2026-10-18

In celebration of its seventy-fifth anniversary, the Frye Art Museum will unveil five exhibitions in spring 2027, each showcasing the museum's unique viewpoint and its commitment to connecting Seattle with contemporary art and artists. Featured is a collaboration between self-taught midcentury artist Esther Hamerman, known for her depictions of migration and urban life, and her great-granddaughter, contemporary artist Nicole Eisenman. The season will also highlight several recent additions to the Frye's collection, including a monumental cedar sculpture by Ursula von Rydingsvard, which will engage with existing works. Additionally, Seattle artists Stefan Gonzales and Serrah Russell will present projects that explore the museum's history. The exhibition Under the Sky will display landscape paintings from the Frye Founding Collection alongside period photographs for the first time. The anniversary festivities will extend into spring 2027.
