Fritz Hansen and Technics Launch Limited-Edition Turntable and Lamp Set

Fritz Hansen and Technics have collaborated on a limited-edition set pairing the Technics SL-40CBT Direct Drive Turntable with a reissue of the Kaiser Idell Luxus 6631-T desk lamp, both finished in a matching deep burgundy color. The lamp was originally designed in 1936 by Christian Dell, former head of the metal workshop at the Bauhaus in Weimar under Walter Gropius. The turntable is an upgraded version of the direct-drive SL deck first introduced in 1970. The collaboration was previewed at the 2026 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen, where the companies presented a Sound Club installation. Ryo Ogasawara of Technics described music as "an art of time," while Dario Reicherl, CEO of Fritz Hansen's Asia division, noted that sound and light change how a space feels without altering its structure. The lamp exemplifies Bauhaus geometric precision and requires high craftsmanship, while the turntable's direct-drive system revolutionized DJ culture. Fritz Hansen will produce 200 lamps for Asia and Europe, and Technics will manufacture up to 300 turntables, available through select Fritz Hansen partner stores and distribution channels worldwide.
