French Old Master Drawings from Private Collections Unveiled in Amiens
The "Dessins français des collections privées françaises" exhibition at the Musée de Picardie in Amiens features over 200 French drawings from private collections and will be on display until September 27. Curated by Pierre Stépanoff, Patrick Ramade, and Nicolas Schwed, the showcase includes works from the 16th to 18th centuries, with three-quarters being previously unpublished. Notable pieces include a landscape by Claude Lorrain, a study for Simon Vouet's "Le Christ à la colonne," and Charles-Nicolas Cochin's "Couple jouant au trictrac." The exhibition thematically explores French art from the School of Fontainebleau to Rococo and Neoclassicism, concluding with architectural fantasies by Hubert Robert and a drawing depicting Louis XVI's oath at Reims Cathedral in 1775. A catalog is available for visitors.
