Frédérique Fleury's Venomous Ceramic Sculptures at Galerie Houg, Lyon

Frédérique Fleury, born in 1957 in Grenoble, transitioned from painting to ceramics after discovering terracotta in Knossos, Crete. Her hybrid works combine textile and stoneware, creating unsettling, erotic forms that challenge good taste. The exhibition 'Télescopages' at Galerie Houg in Lyon runs from June 4 to August 31, 2026. Fleury's sculptures, such as 'Les Trois Belles' (2017-2018) and 'Les Endormies' (2024-2026), feature carnivorous flowers, chains, and tentacled figures, blending seduction and menace. She studied at Beaux-Arts d'Aix-en-Provence and Lyon (1976-1981), had her first solo show at Musée Géo-Charles in Échirolles (1988), and began ceramics in 1994. Recent exhibitions include 'Obrigado à Terra' at Cadaval Palace in Évora, Portugal (2023), and 'Structures et Falbalas' at centre d'art des Pénitents Noirs in Aubagne (2024). In 2026, she also had a solo show at Ceramic Brussels with Galerie Analora.
