Freddie Mercury's Costumes to be Exhibited at V&A for 80th Birthday
From 24 October 2026 to 17 January 2027, the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London will host a free exhibition titled 'Freddie Mercury | Splendid Things,' showcasing eight costumes worn by the legendary singer. This exhibition, created in collaboration with Mary Austin, Mercury's former fiancée, features iconic outfits from his career, including the catsuit from the 'Bohemian Rhapsody' video and the crown and cloak from the 1986 Magic Tour. Born Farrokh Bulsara on 5 September 1946, Mercury became engaged to Austin on Christmas Day 1973. The installations, crafted by Tom Piper, will delve into Mercury's passion for art and fashion, with each of the six sections offering distinct sets, sound, and lighting.
