Frankfurt's Museumsufer Launches Autumn Season with 39 Museums and Focus on Women in Art

Frankfurt's Museumsufer consortium opens its autumn season with new exhibitions across 39 museums, most reachable on foot or by public transport. Several institutions align with the Frankfurt Book Fair, whose 2026 guest of honor is the Czech Republic, presenting art from Germany's neighbor. A second thematic focus, "Künstlerinnen und Frauen in der Kunst und Wissenschaft" (Women Artists and Women in Art and Science), runs across the museums. Within that focus, the exhibition "Amel Bashier's Essence of Life" opens at the Zollamt MMK (Museum für Moderne Kunst), dedicated to women worldwide. The Sudanese artist Amel Bashier said of her practice: "In my works, women are not only witnesses to suffering; they are creators of life, bearers of memory and symbols of hope and peace." The presentation includes her work "Letters from Exile II" (2026). The season's programming spans art from the Czech Republic and internationally oriented exhibitions on women's roles in art and science.
