Franch Batllori: Landscape Architect and Founder of EMF Studio in Girona

Martí Franch Batllori, born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1971, is a landscape architect and agricultural technical engineer. He earned a diploma in Agricultural Technical Engineering, specializing in Fruit and Vegetable Production and Gardening, from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC-ESAB) in 1993. In 1998, he obtained a Diploma in Landscape Architecture from the University of Greenwich in the United Kingdom. Since 2014, he has been pursuing doctoral research at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) Europe. In 2016, he was awarded an honorary doctorate in Design by the University of Greenwich. His professional experience includes working at Büro Kiefer in Berlin in 1995 and at B+B Landscape & Urbanism in Amsterdam from 1996 to 1997. In 1999, he founded EMF, a studio based in Girona dedicated to landscape, public space, and territory. His work investigates the relationships between ecological systems and cultural constructions, approaching design as a research tool capable of generating productive landscapes.
