Francesco De Grandi's 'Salon Kitty' at The Drawing Hall Explores Drawing as Eros, Archive, and Political Act

The Drawing Hall in Grassobbio (Bergamo) presents 'Salon Kitty', a solo exhibition by Francesco De Grandi curated by Gabriele Lorenzoni, running from June 12 to July 11, 2026. This is the twelfth exhibition of the independent space founded by Walter Carrera, Marco Marcassoli, and Andrea Mastrovito, reinforcing its role as a privileged observatory of contemporary Italian drawing. The show investigates drawing not as a preparatory medium but as an autonomous, critical, and processual language. The title references Tinto Brass's erotic film, conceptually linking the dissolution of narrative in favor of non-narrative impulses. De Grandi's works include leporellos functioning as continuous montages and mobile archives, wall interventions destined for erasure, and a serigraph titled 'Fiorellino' printed on 1970s erotic calendars, part of the TDH Folder initiative. The exhibition also features Quaderno n.12, a publication with a critical text by Lorenzoni and an appendix on the Atlas of Imaginary Anatomy, plus a documentary by Yanzi Srl on De Grandi's creative process.
